The greater short horned lizard

If you’ve been paying attention to my pottery endeavors, you know I love horned lizards!

They’re most well known for their ability to shoot blood out of their eyes. However, not every horned lizard species can.

But our challenge species Phrynosoma hernandesi, the short horned lizard, can. This response is generally reserved for canids (domestic dogs, wolves, coyotes, foxes, etc). Busting a blood vessel is a seriously exhausting feat so horned lizards generally rely on crypsis ( the ability to camouflage in their environment).
