Abundant and Adorable

I recently had thee most joyous time. I went to my local park to look for lizards and easily saw 20-30 western fence lizards and a handful of side-blotched lizards. I was lucky enough to see them engage in some cool behaviors including foraging and dominance displays.

I often take western fence lizards for granted because they are everywhere. Sometimes I think to myself, I’ve posted too many challenges with this species. However, they are really cool and have such interesting personalities. Everywhere I looked, I saw another one. Even when I looked up.

The most remarkable thing about them is that they have an enzyme in their blood that neutralizes the bacteria that cause Lyme disease.

Today you’ll search for not one but two western fence lizards.
