Hello Long-Tailed Brush Lizard!
Everyone, say hello to the long-tailed brush lizard, Urosaurus graciosus graciosus. It's their first time being featured on #FindThatLizard!
Recently, I visited the Jumbo Rocks Campground at Joshua Tree National Park, and despite the 80-degree heat at 8 am, this cutie graciously (see what I did there? 😂) let me do a whole photoshoot! I was experimenting with a new lens that one of my friends suggested.
Can you #FindThatLizard
When I saw this lizard, I was a bit confused. At first, I thought it was a side-blotched lizard, but I didn't see a blotch. Then I looked to see which lizards are found in this area, and I thought it looked different from those as well. Finally, I posted one photo to iNaturalist to get feedback from others. Not only is this the first time this lizard has been featured on a challenge, it's the first time I'm ever learning about its existence.
I know I don't know everything, but it's always so exciting to have a new experience like this. These little surprises make life worth living!
Let me know if you #FoundThatLizard and if you've had a new experience lately or one you're looking forward to!
