A Helping Hand
Something I really love about lizards is how they all have their own personalities. Ornate tree lizards, Urosaurus ornatus, as a species have the most big dog in a little dog’s body ever.
Can you #FindThatLizard?
The toughest lizard I ever met was a three-legged tree lizard down near Turkey Creek in the Chiricahua Mountains. I used my lizard lasso to herd this girl down a tree and out of the bushes. She was one of the fastest lizards I’ve ever encountered.
Today’s challenge photo is courtesy of The Agard Lab. Chris was finishing up his PhD when I was entering my freshman year at Howard University. He taught me how to ask for help as a college student.
One day in the lab, I expressed my frustrations about a chemistry class I had to withdraw from. Chris asked me why I didn’t ask anyone in the lab for help. I had been so used to having to figure things out on my own, not wanting to look foolish, that asking for help seemed impossible.
I needed that push. Chris and the other mentors I had while I was at Howard are a big inspiration as to why I want to be a mentor.
Thank you, Chris, for helping me and submitting this photo!
I hope you #FoundThatLizard! Let me know in the comments.
