World Lizard Day 2025

I have been an observer of the natural world for as long as I can remember. My curiosity is endless. So much so that when I was around 6 or 7, my dad bought me The Big Book Of Tell Me Why.

I wanted to know why birds could fly, why animals didn’t get sick when they were in the rain, and most importantly, why did they run away from me when I wanted to get a closer look at them?!

Can you #FindThatLizard?

And now I ask questions about lizards.

What do they eat?

How will they be impacted by climate change?

How can I see them all?!

This World Lizard Day, I invite you all to come explore, observe, and ask questions with me. I’ll be hosting two lizard art walks in Los Angeles—one on August 9th and the other on August 16th. (See the flyer below!)

Even if you aren’t in Los Angeles, you can get outside and make some observations! I would love to see what you found, so make sure to tag me (@Afro_Herper) and #FindThatLizard!

I hope you #FoundThatLizard and to see you out looking for lizards this World Lizard Day!

If you can join us in Los Angeles Please RSVP Here.
