Go Do the Thing!

Perfectionism has been stressing me out lately.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been wanting to get out to search for horned lizards. However, the drive to the areas they may be at (that I have access to) are about an hour away. So I just haven’t found the time to get out there.

Finally, this week I said I’m just gonna go get some photos locally, and I ended up getting some good photos!

Can you #FindThatLizard?

The park nearest me, Kenneth Hahn, is one of the largest green spaces in Los Angeles. There are plenty of lizards running around, including western fence lizards, Sceloporus occidentalis!

They are also known as blue bellies because of the deep blue coloration you see on their bellies.

Often when you see these lizards, they’re doing their little push-ups and during this motion they are squeezing their stomachs on the sides so that blue color can be shown off. The push-ups are essential one lizard talking to another saying “hey this is my territory back off,” or “hey ladies! I’m the one you should mate with!”

I hope you #FoundThatLizard? Let me know in the comments!
